Sticky Fingers Cooking Franchise Opportunity FAQ

These are questions that I’ve heard from many people who see our ads and reach out to learn more:

Q: Do I need to live in a big city to own a Sticky Fingers Cooking franchise location?

A: You do need to live in a metro area with a population of at least 500,000 to 600,000 people in order to see success with our business model. When we build out territories, we look at the number of students located within zip codes. The more densely populated, the more successful our franchise owners are.

Q: Can I just invest in the franchise location and then hire people to do everything for me while I run a different business or stay at my job?

A: We are looking for owner-operators who want to be very involved in the day to day of their Sticky Fingers Cooking business. The flexibility of our model allows you to work from home and not build out a physical location, which makes the start up of your business fast and efficient. Our franchise owners must be owner-operators in their businesses, especially as they start up and build their team and school relationships. It is not required that you work as a chef instructor for your business, though many of our franchise owners do find great joy in taking on this role from time to time.

Q: Where are the classes taught?

A: Our business model is designed to meet the kids where they already are–in classrooms for after-school enrichment or at public libraries and recreation centers for summer camps. In short, you can run this business from your home office and your classes are held in schools and other public places where kids will be.

Q: Is it OK if I’m not a chef?

A: Absolutely! You don’t have to be a chef to be a Sticky Fingers Cooking franchise business owner! We are looking for people who are curious, willing to learn (just like the kids we teach!), and ready to be their own boss–no culinary skills or background needed. We do have franchise owners who have worked in restaurants and some who worked as teachers, who found the Sticky Fingers Cooking model to align with their previous experience and interests. Q: What is a franchise?

A: We understand there’s a lot of lingo in every business, and franchising is a language unto itself–there’s franchise, franchising, franchisor, franchisee, franchise owner, and more! A franchise is a business that sells territories (also called locations) to be run by individual small business owners; a franchise is not a chain business model. A franchisee (also called a franchise owner) will pay a fee to the franchisor, receive training and on-going support, and operate their small business independently with the support of the brand.
